HOURS OF OPERATION:

Doraville Municipal Court is open Monday-Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Registers close at 4:30 p.m.

Doraville Municipal Court can be reached, by phone, Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  at 770-455-1001, unless court is in session.   We are unable to answer phones when court is in session.  Court is usually held on Mondays and Tuesdays, excluding holidays.  

Arraignment calendars are held Mondays & Tuesdays (excluding holidays) at 9:30 am and 11:30 am.  The courthouse opens to the public, 15 minutes before the start of the 9:30 a.m. session.  Defendants are expected to be on time, in order to hear the judge and clerk's announcements.

Non-jury trials-- are held once, every two months.  Dates to be announced/or as scheduled.  Please advise the clerk, if additional witnesses need to be subpoenaed, for your upcoming case.

Code enforcement court-- is held once a month.  There are two scheduled sessions per day.  A 9:30 and 11:30 session.  If you have questions and need to reach out to code enforcement, prior to court, please call the code enforcement hotline at 678-530-2006.

MISSION:It is the mission of the Doraville Municipal Court to provide efficient, fair, and impartial resolution of all matters coming before it. The Court strives to serve the general public and our diverse community with respect, courtesy, and sensitivity.

GENERAL INFORMATION:The Municipal Court of Doraville has jurisdiction over traffic offenses and city ordinance violations which occur within the city limits of Doraville.  This Court also hears MARTA, Georgia State Patrol and Georgia Department of Public Safety offenses which occur within the city limits of Doraville.

The fine for some offenses may be paid without appearing in court on the date listed on your citation, while other violations require a court appearance.  Please call the court at 770-455-1001 to determine if you must appear or if your fine can be paid in lieu of appearing in court. Please allow a minimum of two (2) business days from the date you received your citation for the Court to receive your citation information.

If you do not have to appear in court, you may pay your fine in person, online or by mail, and the payment must be received by the court date indicated on your citation.  If you choose to pay your fine prior to the court date in lieu of appearing in court, a judgment of guilty will be entered for your case.

DISPOSITIONS:Certified copies of dispositions are available one (1) week after your case has been disposed of.   You may request a disposition, by filling out an open records request form.  Otherwise, you may make your request in person, Monday-Friday, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.  When filling out an open records request form, please provide as much detail as possible, including, citation number, date of birth, date of violation, and type of violation received.

PAYMENT INFORMATIONPayments can be made in person, online and by mail.  Forms of payments accepted are cash, money order, cashier’s check, and credit/debit cards.  We will accept Attorney's law firm checks.  However, we do not accept personal checks.

Please note that a 2.25% processing fee will be added to all credit/debit card transactions made in person and online. There is also an additional $2.50 fee charged for online transactions.

** If you are under 21 years of age, you will not be able to pay your citation online as doing so may result in the suspension of your driver's license.  Under 21, must be accompany by a parent, on your scheduled court date.   Some citations can be paid at the window, at the courthouse. Please call the court at 770-455-1001 to determine if you must appear, or if your fine can be paid in lieu of appearing in court. **

When mailing your payment, please do not send cash. Only money orders or cashier’s checks are accepted through the mail. Please include your full name, citation number, and a copy of the citation with your payment. Make your money order or cashier’s check payable to:

INSURANCE CASES:If you received a citation for No Proof of Insurance and you believe that you, in fact, had insurance at the time the citation was issued, you must provide a letter from your insurance company clearly stating that the vehicle you were driving had valid insurance coverage at the time you were driving it and received the citation.  The policy itself, insurance card, binder, etc., will not suffice as proof that coverage was in effect and had not lapsed or was cancelled at the time.  Please bring printed document to court on your scheduled court date.

RESETTING A COURT DATE:You are entitled to one (1) courtesy reset.  You must contact the Court at least two (2) business days prior to your court date to request a new court date.  You must come to the court to sign for a new court date.  If another continuance is needed after that, you must request it of the Judge or the Solicitor in person on your scheduled court date.

FAILURE TO APPEAR:If you fail to appear in court on the date indicated on your citation, or if you fail to pay your fine by your court date, a Failure to Appear Warrant may be issued for your arrest, and/or your driving privilege may be suspended.   Also, an FTA (Failure to Appear) fee may be added to your total fine.



WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU COME TO COURT:Please report to Courtroom #2 and check in with the Clerk who will then direct you where to go.

If your case will be heard by the Judge, you must have a Waiver of Rights Form completed and signed before approaching the bench.  You may print, read, and complete the Waiver before coming to court.  To download and print a copy of the Waiver of Rights, please click Waiver.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING AND DUI SCHOOLS:If you were ordered to complete a Defensive Driving Course (Alive @ 25) or attend a DUI School as part of your sentence, you must bring the original certificate of completion to the court by the date indicated to you by the Judge or Solicitor.  For a list of state-approved DUI schools, please visit the Georgia Department of Driver’s Services website.   If you are 25, or under and ordered to take an Alive @ 25 class, by the judge or solicitor, you must bring a printed copy with you to your next court date.  We will not look at images on your phone.
