The City Recognizes National Hunger and Homelessness Week

November 15th through 22nd is National Hunger and Homeless Week. Founded by the National Coalition for the Homeless and the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness, the week strives to provide education and raise awareness regarding those in our community who are hungry and or unhoused. Mayor Geierman issued a proclamation recognizing the week in Doraville with the goal to raise awareness of the number of reasons people become unhoused, like the national shortage of affordable housing. As well as, recognize and provide support for homelessness assistance organizations and service providers.  Shortage of affordable housing, encourage support for homeless assistance and service providers.

The proclamation was to be presented to I Care Atlanta, Inc. founder, Anthony Delgado. However, Mr. Delgado was unable to attend the ceremony. Receiving the proclamation on his behalf was Doraville Police, Chief Chuck Atkinson. Chief Atkinson spoke about the work of I Care Atlanta and the ways the Doraville Police Department has been involved in its community efforts.
