Project Summary
In conjunction with the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), Stantec, the City of Chamblee, and the Chamblee Doraville Community Improvement District (CD CID), the City of Doraville has commissioned a scoping study on Shallowford Road between New Peachtree Road and Chamblee Dunwoody Road, identifying the stretch as a prime connector for people traveling to and from the Doraville Marta station. Shallowford Road Streetscape design will incorporate new sidewalks and bicycle lanes, allowing pedestrians and vehicles to coexist in the same environment.

Design elements also include enhancing the visual appeal of Shallowford Road with additional street trees and sidewalks. The newly installed/updated street lights and signalized crosswalks will significantly improve the safety of all modes of travel, with pedestrians being the top priority.

The end goal of the Shallowford Road Streetscape project is to develop a more pedestrian-friendly corridor that better accommodates residents and visitors walking and cycling. It will better connect parts of Doraville and Chamblee to the Doraville MARTA station and serve as a means to mitigate the high traffic volumes along Buford Highway.
