Residents and Visitors in the Jess Norman Way Area
Replacement of deteriorated stormwater infrastructure under the roadway of Jess Norman and through adjacent properties will begin next week. Unfortunately, this will create some disruption as it will require the temporary closing of Jess Norman Way.
As soon as Monday, September 24 you may see the mobilization of construction type equipment along the roadside. The street closure is scheduled to begin Wednesday, September 26, 2018 with the project anticipated to be complete by December 31, 2018.
During the closure, the safest detour route has been devised. Detour signs will be in place to direct traffic from Buford Highway to take Stewart Road in order to provide local access. Through traffic will be diverted via Pineland Avenue, Chestnut Drive, and Raymond Drive to the nearest traffic signaled intersection, located at McClave Drive and Buford Highway.
We need all residents help and understanding during the street closure. Please use caution when taking this detour. Be mindful that this is a residential neighborhood and drive carefully. We ask that everyone stay on the detour route and please do not cut through other areas of the neighborhood, unless that is your destination. Access to residences and businesses within the project area will be maintained during construction, however, delays should be expected.
We will all celebrate the completion of this beneficial project, but in the meantime, we apologize for any traffic inconvenience. The City will share periodic updates about the project and notices of any changes to the detour routes. Also, police will remain vigilant to assess the traffic conditions.
