“Free Play”

Are you looking for a place to shoot hoops? If so, Fleming Arena is open to adults throughout the year, however open hours are subject to change, depending on the season. Generally, the arena is open Mondays thru Thursdays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.


Tai Chi and Qi Gong Classes

Tai Ji and Qi Gong Classes are being offered every Thursday at 8:30 am to 9:00 am at Fleming Arena. The cost is $30.00 a 6 week session or $5.00 per class. The course is taught by instructor Miriam Holland (404-317-2958). Tai Ji is a very old form of Chinese martial arts that is practiced slowly with little impact. Qi Gong is an even older Chinese exercise that focuses on breathing. Both offer many health benefits, including improved flexibility, reduced blood pressure, expanded lung capacity, better balance, stress reduction and overall sense of well being. 


Healthy Hearts: Low Impact Aerobics

Low impact aerobics is taught Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. The class is free for individuals age 50 and older. For registration or general information, contact course instructor Diane Hutchinson at (770) 936-3850.


Water Aerobics

Water aerobics is taught throughout the summer at the Doraville City Pool. Classes run June - August in the summer season only. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The cost is $3.00 per class for adults and $2.00 per class for seniors (55 & up). Taekwondo


Experience and learn the craft of the Korean martial arts class from instructor John Franklin. Classes range from beginners to experienced adults. Classes run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00pm - 8:00pm for kids and 8:00pm - 9:00pm for adults.


Youth Sports:


Basketball

Registration begins early September 1st and runs through November 3. Evaluations begins in November 13th – 17th 2017. Practices start week of November 13th and the leagues first game is Saturday, December 9th, through February 10th, 2017. Youth basketball is for Girls and Boys ages 5 through 12 years old. Registration fees are $90.00, 1st child; $72.00, 2nd child; $63.00, for 3 or more children.  *** The age control date is January 1, 2018, child will play base on his/her age on January 1, 2018.


North DeKalb Little League Baseball & Softball


Baseball and softball programs are for children ages 7 through 12. Registration begins in early February and runs through early March. For T-Ball (under 6), the registration cost is $45.00 per child. For boys and girls ages 7-16, the cost is $55.00 per child. Workouts begin mid March. For more information, contact the Recreation Department at (770) 936-3850.


North DeKalb Youth Football and Cheerleading

Registration for football and cheerleading begins in early July and runs throughout the month. Practice usually begins in late July. Football and cheerleading is open to boys and girls ages 5-13. Youth Soccer

Youth soccer is open to boys and girls ages 4-12 with age groups;4-6, 7-8, and 9-12. Registration for spring season runs from February - March. Registration for fall season runs from August - September. The cost varies per season and age of child. Workouts begin mid March for spring season and mid September for fall season. Bi-lingual coaches are always needed, so if you’re interested please call the Recreation Department at (770) 936-3850.

Crave Dance

Crave dance is youth dance program (ages 6-12) that teaches kids skills in ballet, hip - hop, and jazz dance. Crave dance meets every Tuesday at 6:00 PM beginning on the second Tuesday in September. Registration is $15 with a monthly fee of $50. Recitals are held in May for the spring session and July for the summer session.
