Headed by the City Planner, the Planning and Development Department is responsible for long-term planning and enforcement of the City of Doraville's Zoning Ordinance through the review of permits and occupational tax requests. All new business requests within the corporate limits of the City of Doraville should be directed first to the City Planner for zoning review in order to determine the propriety of the business being established on zoned property. The Doraville Planning Commission typically meets on the first Thursday of each month at City Hall. The meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. and are open to the public. The Commission considers zoning ordinance amendments, zoning changes, land use changes, and special use permits. The Commission may also be utilized to do research on other issues at the direction of the City Council.
