The Quality of Life Unit operates under the Police Department and provides fair and consistent enforcement of the City's property maintenance code as well as sign and zoning ordinances. Officers Martin and Morrow work in concert with inspection and planning officials to protect the value of commercial and residential properties by regulating conditions such as decrepit and poorly maintained properties, junk vehicles, illegal dumping and burnings, hazardous industrial sites as well as sign and general code infractions. Common Property Maintenance Code Violations Please remember to keep your lawns mowed… Sec. 5-36. Landscaping. The owner or occupant of any premises within the City limits of the City of Doraville which contains landscaping and lawns, hedges and brushes shall keep the lawns, hedges and brushes trimmed and from being overgrown and unsightly where exposed to public view and where the same constitute a blighting factor depreciating adjoining property. The owner and occupants of the premises shall not permit weeds or grass within one hundred fifty (150) feet of any building structure to grow on such property to a height exceeding ten (10) inches (Ord. No. 06-15, § 1, 6-19-06). Please remember to remove your emptied trash cans from the curb after pick up… Sec. 15-44. Preparation, Storage of Refuse for Collection – Residential. It shall be the duty of the occupant to remove containers from curbside location to storage location, which storage location shall be nearer to the residential unit located on the premises than to any street abutting the premises; the removal shall be accompanied not later than 7:00 p.m. on the day the contents are emptied and collected. Commercial vehicle storage in residential areas is prohibited… Sec. 19-63. Motorized and non-motorized commercial vehicles and equipment in residential areas. No person shall permit, allow or use property located within a residential district in the City for any commercial purpose unless the entire vehicle is parked within a garage or carport. Please reference Sec. 19-63 for definitions and exceptions. The storage of junk vehicles is prohibited… Sec. 19-108. Notice to remove; inoperability; penalty for non-compliance. It is unlawful for any person to store a junk vehicle in the City for a period longer than seventy-two hours. A junk vehicle is described as one that is wrecked, dismantled, inoperable or does not have a valid license plate attached. A junk vehicle is not allowed to stand on a property except stored in a wholly enclosed structure. Please reference Sec. 19-108 for details.
