City Court
General Information The Municipal Court of Doraville has jurisdiction over traffic offenses and city ordinances that occur within the city limits of Doraville. This court also hears MARTA and Georgia State Patrol traffic offenses that occur within the city limits of Doraville. The fine for some offenses may be paid without appearing in court on the date listed on your citation, other violations require a mandatory court appearance. Please call the court at (770) 455-1001 to determine if you must appear, or if your fine can be paid in lieu of appearing in court. Please allow a minimum of ten (10) business days from the date you received your citation to allow the court to receive your citation information and input it into our system. If you do not have to appear in court, you may pay your fine in person or by mail, and the payment must be received by the court date indicated on your citation. If you choose to pay your fine prior to the court date in lieu of appearing in court, a judgment of guilty will be entered for your case. In any event, know your rights. Payments must be made in the form of cash, money order, or certified check. We DO NOT accept personal/business checks or credit/debit cards. When paying in person, you may pay during our regular business hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The court office is closed for court after 12:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. When mailing your payment, please make your money order or cashier’s check payable to: Doraville Municipal Court 3765 Park Avenue Doraville, Georgia 30340 Please include your citation, or a copy of it, with your payment. Make sure your citation number is written on your payment. You are entitled to one (1) reshcedule - the Court Clerk may grant one continuance of a scheduled court date. You must contact the court at least two (2) business days prior to your court date to request that. If another continuance is desired after that, you must request it of the Judge in person on your scheduled court date. If you fail to appear in court on the date indicated on your citation, or if you fail to pay your fine by your court date, a bench warrant may be issued for your arrest, and/or your driver’s license may be suspended. A Contempt of Court fee will also be added to your total fine. Certified copies of the disposition of your case are available one (1) week after your case has been disposed of. You may request the certified copy in person at the court house on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Please bring your picture ID. The cost for the disposition is $2.00 per copy. If you were ordered as part of your sentence to complete community service, you may do so at any non-profit organization. Proof must be turned in to the court by the date indicated to you by the Judge or Solicitor, and must be provided in writing on a letterhead from the agency where the community service work was performed. The letter must include the dates and total hours of work completed, as well as a contact name and number whom the Court Clerk may call to verify such information. Defensive Driving and DUI Schools If you were ordered to complete a Defensive Driving Course or attend a DUI School as part of your sentence, you must bring the original certificate of completion to the court by the date indicated to you by the Judge or Solicitor. For a list of state-approved Defensive Driving and DUI schools, please contact the Georgia Department of Driver’s Services. We do not accept courses completed on-line. What to do when you come to Court. When you come to the Doraville Municipal Court for your scheduled court date, please look for your name on the court docket located in the main hallway, across from courtroom #1. The docket will let you know what courtroom you need be in (courtroom #1, #2, or #3). Once you enter the courtroom, you may go up to the front to check in with the clerk, who will be sitting to the left of the Judge’s bench. If your case will be heard by the Judge, you must have a Waiver of Rights Form completed and signed before approaching the bench. You may print, read, and complete the Waiver before coming to court.
